General merchandise is what the industry calls a load with no single dominant category, the wide everyday spread that touches every floor: household goods, home decor, seasonal items, small electronics, toys. Several streams ship under the GM label, and they do not behave the same. A premium manifested class runs retailer-inspected shelf pulls, new product, and customer returns, high value with nothing pulled out, manifested down to the line. Beside it run returns and undeliverables that often ship manifested, big-and-bulky returns, and shelf pulls and overstock that move unmanifested.
The premium class earns its name through what is kept out: no playground-line merchandise, no holiday seasonal, no food or candy, no apparel or shoes, nothing visibly broken, nothing under the program's value floor. What remains is a load a buyer can plan a floor against. These pallets often stack tall and ship dense, so the freight and the floor space both matter before you commit. Where the program runs clean and manifested, the manifest is why the load reads line by line.
Two reads tell you how a GM load will actually run. First, condition is retailer-sourced and it varies, so we pass along the grades and photos as we get them and describe the condition the way the load record shows it, rather than rounding it up. Returns are common, the spread runs from new through mixed and shelf pulls, and we state it per load. Second, the manifest. A large share of GM ships manifested, but not all of it, so we label the manifest status per load. On the unmanifested mixes, the condition line on the tile is what you plan against.
